TikTok Side Hustles: How to Earn Money as a Stay-at-Home Mom

Discover easy side hustles on TikTok that let you earn extra income while taking care of the kids. Learn how to earn from home using just your phone and zero capital.

You’ve probably seen them while scrolling on TikTok or Facebook—moms posting product links or quick videos about budol finds. These posts are often part of TikTok side hustles that are perfect for stay-at-home moms (SAHM) managing a tight budget. With over 62.3 million Filipino users in 2025, TikTok is one of the best platforms for turning your daily scrolling into extra income.

You may have heard of creators earning through the Creator Rewards Program, merch sales, or Live Gifts. While those are great, they often require capital or at least 10,000 followers to start. Instead, you can start with three methods that require zero capital and let you grow at your own pace: Affiliate Marketing, User-Generated Content (UGC), and LIVE Selling.

Income varies based on your time, consistency, and niche, but many moms start earning small amounts as they learn and grow. Here’s how you can get started with each one:

1. TikTok Affiliate Marketing

Have you seen videos with a yellow basket icon on the bottom left? That’s the TikTok Shop. You promote products (like diapers, cleaning tools, or budget-friendly makeup) from other sellers and earn commission when someone buys through your yellow basket link. You don't need to handle inventory, shipping, or customer service.

This works well if you only have short pockets of time, like during naps or after bedtime.

How to start:

  1. Check Your Eligibility:
  • If you have 1,000+ followers: The TikTok Shop for Creator option will automatically appear in your settings.
  • If you have 200 to 599 followers: Go to TikTok Studio and apply for the Creator Adjustment Program. This program allows you to post up to seven shoppable videos and four LIVEs to get started
  1. Set Up Your Payouts: Before you post, go to TikTok Shop > Commission and set up your account. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your bank account or e-wallet (like GCash).
  1. Find products: Browse the TikTok Creator Marketplace for products you already use. Look for Open Collaboration plans, so you can promote items immediately without waiting for brand approval.
  1. Shoot: Film a short video—even just 10 seconds works! Show the problem (e.g., "Messy kitchen?") and the product as the solution.
  1. Link: Click "Add Link" and select the product when posting.

2. User-Generated Content

Sharing your honest reviews on products you use daily for UGC is one of the many TikTok side hustles you can try.

User-generated content (UGC) is perfect if you don't want to post on your personal account. Unlike typical influencers, UGC creators don’t need a big, public following. Brands pay you to create raw, relatable videos that they post on their page, such as product reviews, unboxing videos, or TikTok-made-me-buy-it style testimonials.

You don’t need clients to get started. Build a simple portfolio by filming three to five sample videos using items you already have at home. As a beginner, you can look at what other micro-influencers charge to decide on your rates. Many brands also offer free products (x-deals) in exchange for videos, which is great for gaining experience.

You can batch-record videos in one sitting, making this ideal if you prefer flexible, behind-the-scenes work.

How to start:

  1. Pitch: Search for brands on Instagram or TikTok and send them a direct message: "Hi! I'm a mom creator, and I love your product. Can I make a video for you?"
  2. Deliver: Film the video according to their brief and email the file to them once they agree and send you the product.
  3. Get paid: Ask for a down payment or use a contract to ensure you receive your extra income online.

3. LIVE Selling

If you have high energy and love chit-chatting, LIVE selling is for you. You act as a digital host, selling products in real-time. While you typically need 1,000 followers to go live, some users find that registering as a Seller can unlock LIVE features faster, but policies change often.

You don't need a studio; just set up a clean corner in your house with good lighting. LIVE selling requires longer, scheduled sessions, so it’s best if you can set aside uninterrupted time.

How to start:

  1. Prepare: Add the products you want to sell to your "Showcase" before going live.
  2. Go live: Hit the "LIVE" button. Pin the product you are talking about so viewers can buy it instantly.
  3. Engage: Greet viewers by name as they join. The more you talk, the more TikTok pushes your stream to others.

Tips for Success in Your Side Hustles

Treat your TikTok journey like a small business by planning your content and tracking your goals.

No matter which side hustle you choose, a few best practices can help you grow faster and avoid common mistakes.

Be authentic and relatable.

Don't try to fake a perfect life. Other parents relate more to a messy living room or a toddler throwing a tantrum than a staged, perfect studio. Your viewers know what buhay nanay is like. If you’re discussing healthy foods and snacks for kids, show your real kitchen.

Watch out for opportunities.

Keep checking the app for updates. TikTok often has a Rewards Program or challenges where you can earn bonuses. Brand Partnerships also become available once you grow your following, but remember, you can start earning small amounts even with a small audience.

Avoid scams.

Be careful of side hustle jobs that ask for money upfront. Legitimate brands and platforms will never ask you to pay a membership fee just to work for them. Always do your research.

Disclose affiliate links.

If you’re promoting products through TikTok Shop, always disclose that you earn a commission. A simple line like “Affiliate link” or “I earn a small commission” builds trust and keeps you compliant with platform rules.

Start Where You Are

Thanks to these side hustles, you can contribute to your family's finances without leaving home. So, don’t be shy! Grab your phone and record that first video. You already have the stories; now it's time to share them.
