Out of 10 rounds, how many words could your kid make with the alphabet cards?

MATERIALS NEEDED

Paper cards

Color Pencils

Magazines

Newspapers 

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prepare a set of 26 alphabet letter cards.

2. Place them face-up on floor/table.

3. Clip 5-10 magazine pictures of things     

a. with 3- to 4-letter names; and

b. Your kid is familiar with. Samples: dog, cat, cup, eyes, nose, soap, etc.

4.Write the names on respective pictures.

5. Take one picture and show it to your kid.

6. Spell out the name aloud to them. Say: “D-O-G”

7. Turn the picture facedown and ask your kid to pick up the alphabet letters of the name of the picture just seen.

8. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all pictures are done.  

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT

Children at 2-3 can recognize most of the letters in the alphabet. With guidance, your kid will likely be able to pick up the correct letters linked to simple 3- to 4-letter words that they frequently hear of.
